Teenage Girl May Have Found A Possible Solution

3M runs a Young Scientist Challenge every year. It is open to students in grades 5 through 8. This year a 14 year old girl from Texas was competing for the top prize of $25,000. She originally was working on ways to fight the flu for her project. Then the pandemic hit, and her focus was shifted to Covid.
Anika Chebrolu said in an interview that she was “set out to use the insilico methods to bind to proteins inside the influenza virus.” She discovered a molecule that can bind to a protein within the coronavirus and make it unable to function. She said that she is excited about her discovery and hopes this leads to an end of the pandemic.She did win the top prize of $25,000, and I have a feeling at just 14 years old we are going to hear more from this girl.
