Recap Of ACM Awards 2020

By Kim Carr Sep 17, 2020 | 1:44 PM
Last night the 55th Annual ACM Awards finally took place after being pushed off from April. This was the first time ever that the awards took place in Nashville and I will say I am a big fan of them taking place in Music City. This was really a live show with performances taking place in 3 historic venues: The Grand Ole Opry House, The Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe.
Keith Urban wasn’t too bad as a host.I think he was just really trying hard to stay on time. Keith also had the honor of announcing the Entertainer of the Year award. He honestly was a loss for words when he saw that it was a tie. Carrie Underwood and Thomas Rhett both taking home the honor last night. During Carrie’s speech she did mention “You guys, hold on, live music will happen again, just hold on.”
Last night was also a big night for Luke Combs. He won for Album of the Year and Male Artist of the Year. He also did a great performance with a new song called Better Together.
Old Dominion took home two awards: Group of the Year and Song of the Year. Maren Morris took home Female Vocalist of the Year award.
One thing that I did find pretty awkward was the fact that Miranda Lambert performed at The Bluebird Cafe. She did a stripped down version of the the song Bluebird.
Then a couple of performances later it was Blake Shelton and Gwen. They were in L.A. so they were sitting behind a green screen. Out of all the places to perform they also choose the Bluebird.

All the performances were outstanding last night. Two of my favorites were Eric Church who kicked off his performance with a special rendition of Johnny Cash’s Ragged Old Flag right into his latest song Stick That In Your Country Song.

Also Carrie Underwood did a nice tribute to some of the leading ladies in country. Carrie shinned like a star last night.

Tim McGraw performed I Called Mama.

Riley Green performed I Wish Grandpas Never Died at They Ryman.

Maren Morris performed also from The Ryman last night.
