Parents I am going to be honest with you, this weekend isn’t going to be pretty. Daylight Savings is upon us where we will “Spring Forward” and losing an hour of sleep.
If you want to try to avoid meltdowns with your kids and to help them adjust a little more, here are some tips.
Take It Slow: Just like adults, it takes a us a bit to adjust to daylight savings. So don’t try to make them adjust over night. Why not try switching up their bedtime in 15 minute increments over the next few nights. A suggestion for toddlers by doing 20 minutes a day and school age kids by 30 minutes a day.
Keep that Bedtime Routine In Tack: If you normally do bath, brush teeth, story. Keep with that, doing this routine helps little ones get ready for bed and know that bedtime is coming.
Avoid Big Meals: Try not to do a big dinner, before bed. This can interfere with sleep.
