Like many I have reached for a cup of coffee as soon as I get out of bed. I think half of the time I am still asleep as I push the button on my Keurig. Looks like that isn’t the first thing we should be reaching for in the morning.
Health experts and Angela Lemond, the spokes person for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics say that our bodies are dry when we wake up in the morning. Dr. Maria Pena adds, “Water is an effective way to hydrate, plus when we drink that first thing in the morning before anything else we are building a healthy habit.” Not only does drinking water helps us to go to the bathroom and get rid of waste. It helps to clear out the toxins that are in our system.
So maybe tomorrow morning reach for a nice glass of water and enjoy your cup of coffee.
