Wine And Girl Scout Cookie Pairing

By Kim Carr Feb 18, 2022 | 10:45 AM

Today is one of my favorite fun national holidays. National Drink Wine Day!

We know that wine can pair very well with pork, pasta, beef ect. It even can pair well with fun items like Halloween candy, Christmas cookies and yes even…Girl Scout Cookies! So as you are enjoying your cookies, why not pop the cork on a wine that will pair well with them.

Thin Mints: They pair nicely with a Cabernet Sauvignon. The full-bodie cab with the minty chocolate cookies will give your taste buds a nice surprise.

Lemonades: They pair nicely with a Rosé or Riesling. The rosé has some citrus notes that will bring out the tangy lemon icing. The Riesling will bring the citrus cookie to life a little more with the sweet dry wine.

Prosecco: Pairs nicely with the newest cookie Toast-Yay! The fruitiness of the this Italian sparkling wine and the French toast breakfast flavors work very well together.

Caramel deLite: Pairs nicely with Sauternes or Mourvèdre. The goodness of the chocolate and coconut make this sweet French dessert wine a must. The Spanish grapes used in the Mourvèdre wine have that rich fruit aromas along with bold chocolate and black pepper flavor, will give that cookie a whole new flavor profile.

Tagalongs: Pair well with either Tawny Port or Red Wine Blend. The Port wine and the peanut butter cookie really give off that nutty profile. The Red Wine Blend has that fuller body with dark berry notes. That will give you a feeling of enjoying a pb&j cookie.

S’more: Grab a bottle of Syrah. The dark red fruit and slight notes of smoke and oat make this a perfect match. I mean you eat s’mores around a campfire so this is a perfect match.

Do-Si-Do: Pop the cork on a Zinfandel. A sweet wine flavor of the dark fruit and spice will elevate the cookie’s sweetness.

Toffee-Tastic: Malbec is what you want to reach for. The cookie has a nice buttery flavor with a crunch. This type of wine has notes of cocoa and vanilla and it will work together nicely.
