There has been a time or two where I have had some left over foods in my fridge but I couldn’t tell what it was, or I couldn’t remember the last time I made meatloaf.
With the holidays coming up now is a great time to go over the rules of leftovers. How long are they good for before you have to toss ’em. Because I don’t know about you, but holiday leftovers are always the best. But sometimes I get nervous because I don’t know how long is too long before they need to be tossed.
Thanks to the USDA they have some guidelines to help figure that out. Turns out foods that are high in moisture like eggs and veggies. Those are really only good for about 3 days after the fact. Then they should be tossed.
However foods that are higher in acid like maybe a citrus pie or what not. Those can go about a week due to the bacteria being turned away.
